THE TASTY BITS THIS WEEK
Special Feature Story of the Week
-Timbers beat the LA Galaxy in their FIRST preseason game this year by a score of 4-1. Goals scored by Dike, Perlaza, Marcelin (with and assist by Kalif Alhassan), and FOOTY Mamado Danso on a Penalty Kick in the 85 minute! THAT is a great way to start the Preseason.
-The second preseason game was just this last Friday against the Montreal Impact. That game resulted in a 0-0 draw. Always good to keep a clean sheet!
-AS of Today, Sunday February 12th, there are only 29 days til the FIRST REGULAR season match against Philly on Monday March 12th…
Each week I check in with Marshall Kirkpatrick for the latest in Tech news and tweets. Whether he is tirelessly building his new project Plexus Engine or continuing his work with Read Write Web, Marshall always has his finger on the crystal ball of whats new in the world of technology. This week I will show you to three things that Marshall has shown me that I think are totally awesome.
For the last few weeks we have been thinking backwards and discussing Twitter. This week I am going to explain the techniques and processes used to fully enjoy using the wandering target that we think of as Twitter.
Here is a great website on how to use Twitter
http://michaelhyatt.com/the-beginners-guide-to-twitter.html
1. set up your account just like any online service you use.
2. tweak your settings to customize your account with photo and personal info.
3. Set up your phone because twitter us so much better on the go.
4. Search out and find your friends, family, sports teams, bands etc…what ever interests you.
5. Learn the basic commands that we discussed in the earlier segment! Twitter is gibberish without understanding his.
6. Start Tweeting, but not to much. This is not a diary, but more of a news and entertainment feed.
7. Be careful. Just like facebook, USE COMMON sense when it comes to how much info you allow strangers to see!
8. Get out there and find cool twitter oriented apps that further your enjoyment of this media!!!
SPECIAL SUPPORTLAND TIDBIT
This week I am not doing my usual Supportland section where I talk about a restaurant, bar, store, etc…The show this week is sprinkled with Star Wars samples that I cut up myself from an old LP record that actually has the movie score on it. The narration is terrible. BUT the music, voices, droid sounds and explosions are straight from the 1977 classic A New Hope. BUT, that first movie is now considered episode IV in the whole Star Wars series.
This weekend, George Lucas and company have re-released episode I, A Phantom Menace, to the Theater in STUNNING 3D. Although at the time of this Portland Scramble episode, I have not yet seen it, I WILL… AND coincidentally, It will be my first 3D movie experience~! I guess I really am old school sometimes. I hope all the old samples in this weeks Show take you back to the first time you saw a light saber, a wookie, and wanted to be a Jedi!
